MLB Division Standings as of 5/11/17

The difference between the American and National League is the American League has the DH(Designated Hitter) rule which means the pitcher does not swing the bat at the plate. In the National League the pitchers must swing the bat and try to help the team to win.

Following the Yankees you have the Baltimore Orioles with a record of 22-11 with the same winning percentage as the Yankees. In 3rd place in the AL East is the Boston Red Sox with a season recored of 17-16 so far in the year with the win percentage at .515 and 5 games back behind the Yankees and the Orioles.
